Best Time To Do Cardio

Best Time To Do Cardio There is a lot of confusion about when to do cardio, I get asked this question all the time! As many of you have heard, doing cardio before you eat in the morning burns off more calories so is that the best time? Lots believe that the right time to do cardio is before a weight workout to provide a warmup but just as many believe that the right time is afterward. Who is right? None of them! All of them! The right time to do cardio is when you are most likely to do it! Cardio is very important and its 100x more important that you actually DO your cardio than when to do it! Lets look at some of the pros and cons of doing cardio at various times. Doing Cardio And Weight Workouts Separately Its optimal to do your cardio and weight workouts completely separately, that is, with four or more hours of rest between them. This way, neither workout interfereres with the other and you can give each 110% effort. For those of us who workout at home, this is easy to do. For those who go to gyms, its not as easy if you depend on the stationary equipment for your cardio because then you need to make a second trip to the gym. Now lets look at the non-optimal compromises. Doing Cardio Before Breakfast Yes, studies have shown that you burn off more calories if you do cardio before breakfast, but its a lousy time to do cardio in my opinion because you wont do your cardio for nearly as long. Who can focus on cardio when your stomach is growling and you feel faint from

This is great, and scooby certainly is more ripped than normal.

I do my cardio after work, 4-5 mile run, 3 or 4 days a week. I love it , and eat soon after, works for me

@persilbran I lived in Munich for 2 years, wanted to see other parts of the country. Besides it was a hardcore bike tour, not a tourist jaunt :)

@daswada9 LOL! How about “Should I do cardio *while* I am going to the bathroom?”

Scooby, when I am jogging, I always get too tired, because the at right side of my ribs (probably the river) hurts. I don’t know why it hurts so much, I do swimming and I take the bike… The jogging soon turns in to fast walking, after it starts to hurt.

Intense cardio or light cardio burns more fat?

@joshjesquivel5 If you’re only doing cardio every third day, then maybe you need to be doing that a little more often if you want to lose fat. What’s your calorie intake in comparison to your cardio exercises?

It sounds like you’re building muscle but not losing fat to me. How long is your cardio? What do you do?

@joshjesquivel5 lower belly fat is the toughest..you seem to have your workout scheduling down but are you eating healthy? Someone once told me..even though hard to believe…that achieving good abs requires 90% diet 10% exercise

Hi Scooby, I think your body looks even better after the bike tour!
Just wondering, what is that “small quick meal” that you have between weights and cardio? Ty.

I’m doing training in gym on Mo/We/Fr in morning after first meal, in Tu/Th/Sa i’m doing abs in morning and cardio in evening on empty stomach, after that i’m eating only 250g cheese with only 10% fats because it contains casein.

Nice, this helped a lot. I do a warm up of 10-15 mins light cardio before weights and I always know I’ll 2 cardio sessions (not in the gym, I play football/soccer for at least an hour twice a week) so this has calmed me down and reassured me that as long as I do it, I’m okay. Thanks again.
