Boxing: Double End Bag Cardio Training by Tuan Tran

Sign up for training @ myhitechtrainer.com Hey everyone, Tuan here with the first videos for 2010. If this is your first time seeing my videos, let me get some info to you. I am a Drug Free competitor for Bodybuilding and a RAW Powerlifter. Here, you will see what I am doing on the Double End Bag in Boxing to get my conditioning ready for my big bodybuilding show for 2010. The double end bag is one of the more challenging boxing training techniques that you can work on. Thats because the double end bag has a far greater range of motion and a greater scope of unpredictability than even the speed bag. You get all of the coordination and speed benefits of the speed bag, while increasing the intensity and difficult level and adding in defensive training, footwork and technical form. Stand in front of a double end bag and flick a couple of jabs to the center of the bag. Notice the rapid bouncing motion. Throw a few more with various levels of power, follow through and even come from different directions so you begin to understand how the double end bag works. Once your comfortable and loosened up bit, begin working some combinations on the bag. Always keep your eye on the middle of the bag, not on the ropes, not straight ahead but dead center on the bag itself. This will help improve your accuracy. Circle the bag as if it were a sparring opponent, and keep your guard up high and your form tight. If you step in closer than a full arms reach from the bag youll also be able to

  7. MohaaVeteran says:

Hey Tuan, have you ever been hit in the face with that thing? lol I’m sure I would haha

  8. roughneckasian says:

of course. and i still get hit today when i get lazy or tired. but that is what makes it a great learning tool of defence.

  9. frankykeysha2 says:

@roughneckasian is it true that when youre doing cardio you can loose your muscles

  10. roughneckasian says:

of course, just look pro marathon runners, guys how bike on the French open, or people who do iron man contest. they do tons or cardio, and you can see how their bodies looke like,

  11. frankykeysha2 says:

yea I know but if im doing like 15 min cardio a day will i loose my muscle

  12. JEETkuneDOstudent says:

Keep that chin down, rotate the hips a bit more for power, and dong drop your hands right after you punch. Other than that good work.

  13. JEETkuneDOstudent says:

    DON’T***

  14. roughneckasian says:

thanks for the comment and always good to be reminded of the basics. however, as for the hips, that is great advice for the heavy bag, but if I unload too much power in my punches on the double end bag, it will crush my face. I have to pull my punches for now for so I can keep up with the double end bag. but I hope to increase my reaction time so that I can go harder with my punches in the future. in time, i will post another video of my progression

You know what, you are right. I am in a kick boxing class and have been for a year, but I have yet to use a speed bag. I love sparring. I think you would be a beast. Have you competed yet?

good gosh that thing would come back in my face and knock me the funk out! Nice vid tho!

i hate to run ive actually just started back, but boxing is great! cardio ive been doing that along with grappling and weightlifting. i did kickboxing for 5years and wrestling for 5 years. If any advice i could give you it would b that dont worry about power but worry about speed. If your cardio is up and you have the speed the faster punches you can throw along with combinations the stronger punches become.

  18. skater09902 says:

jeez i didnt know cardio makes u lose muscle lmao that sucks!

  19. o0MattAnderson0o says:

you should really keep your right hand up when you circle throwing that jab. otherwise you’ll get hooked in the grill.

  20. roughneckasian says:

it will be alot better when I lose more weight. the muscle mass I have works against me and when I ware down and my arms begins to drop. not what I want to do, but it happens. its like doing the 100 pushups and then trying to do another 100 right after. once your muscles ware down, so does form

  21. mttm06 says:

@roughneckasian You doing good on the double end bag, don’t listen this people when they say you gotta rotate the hips and hit harder, double end bag is for speed, timing and coordination. You rotate hips and hit hard on the heavy bag. One thing you need to do is when you’re jabbing the double end bag make sure you extend the jab, you are a little to close to the bag and your jab are too short.

  22. roughneckasian says:

@mttm06 thanks for the support and comment. will do and the distance of the jab

  23. jakekhanph says:
