    West Virginia was a freaking pit the one time I’ve been there, but I absolutely love this song. Funny enough, I think I might have liked West Virginia more if I had never Country Roads because it raised my expectations so high.

    Oh, dear, popebunny, where did you visit? Out my WV window I see mountains and windmills, pine trees, the horses next door and the wide blue sky. Nope, no pit here.

    He was such a Great Musician, too bad he’s gone. He was such a great inspiration to me, and is the reason why I learned to play the guitar.

    Was the piano player Glenn Hardin?

  17. 21MLee says:

    @bigbadandrew
    Yes, that is Glenn Hardin at the piano.

  18. bigbadandrew says:

    @21MLee James Burton, Glenn Hardin, any other member of Elvis’ TCB band played with John Denver after Elvis’ death?

  19. 21MLee says:

    @bigbadandrew
    Emory Gordy played bass guitar in Elvis’ live band for a while in early – mid 1973. After Elvis’ death Gordy, along with Burton and Hardin, played for John Denver. The three also played in ‘ The Hot Band ‘ for Emmylou Harris.

    here in Oregon in the 70s John Denver was the music of the mountains here , his music put you in the country . He was a fantastic musician and artist, unfortunate his break up with his wife caused him problems
